Root your Pantech Element

Like with the Burst, the process is ridiculously easy. In order to root the device, however, you'll need a couple of things:
Once you have that taken care of, navigate to where you downloaded CWM and the insecure boot image, extract the folder, and launch a command prompt (shift+ right click > open command window hereNote: this doesn't work in Windows 7's libraries - you must be in the actual folder). Once you've done that, execute the following commands with the device plugged into your PC:
  • adb reboot bootloader
  • fastboot flash recovery cwm-5.0.2.7-pororo.img
  • fasboot flash boot element-boot-insecure.img
  • fastboot reboot
After that, just install SU from the Play Store (or grab the flashable version from here and flash in CWM) and you're done. You now have a rooted tablet with ClockworkMod recovery!
As always, if you hit any snags, hit this thread on RootzWiki. Good luck!

  1. Did not work on my Element with ICS upgrade. I get an error "FAILED (remote:not support!!)" when I apply the insecure.img. Any thoughts?

  2. From what I understand about the burst and the element they used the same method for root. I don't have one to test the idea but if you look at the new ICS root process for the burst and follow that with the exception use the element CWM instead you should be good. if I find any confirmed information I will update accordingly

  4. Thanks for the link! I got the files unzipped and it was literally a one click root. Awesome! Kudos to you.
