[Root/Recovery] Pantech Burst/Presto/P9070 with ICS update 10/3/2012

Pantech Burst/Presto/P9070 with ICS update 10/3/2012

How to Root Pantech Burst with today’s ICS update:
Phone fully booted, enable usb debugging
adb push Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip /sdcard/external_sd/
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot boot cwm-5.0.2.7-presto.img
In Clockworkmod, select install zip from sdcard.
Then select Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip and install it.
Note: You may have to install it several times before the symlink at the end of the install works.
Reboot the phone.
How to Install ClockworkMod Recovery with today’s ICS update: (root required)
adb push cwm-5.0.2.7-presto.img /data/local/tmp/
adb shell
su
dd if=/data/local/tmp/cwm-5.0.2.7-presto.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18
sync
exit
Note: CWM does NOT need to be installed.
You can backup and flash just using fastboot boot (recovery.img)
Note: You can brick your phone flashing mmc partitions incorrectly. Beware.

  2. reboot back to normal and check to see if you have access to your sd card. this is not refering to the internal memory as cwm does now have access to that. sometimes I will try to mount my usb as a thumb drive and see if windows will detect it or if it will say there was an issue and it needs to be repaired or formatted. usually if windows will give you that message cwm won't see it.

  3. So to clarify, CWM is mandatory for rooting ICS Burst?

  4. yes you don't have to install it permanently though you can boot the one time root and never install it and be fine.

    1. go for it. Just make sure you are using CWM 5 and not 6 as at the moment 6 will brick your phone when you try to restore from a backup.

  7. I don't know what i'm doing wrong but it won't install cwm-5.0.2.7-presto.img. Keeps saying it can not load it onto phone. the phone is in fastboot mode while trying to do it and its not working. I already updated my os to ics would that be why it isn't working?? If so, how do i get it to work so i can root my phone and install clockwork mod to it as well once ics is already running on the phone?

  8. I finally managed to figure out how to do it. for some reason when I copied and pasted the commands into command prompt it didn't let me do the instal. When I manually typed in the commands it worked. Now i'm having trouble to get cwm installed on my phone cause I like to be able to create recoverys from the phone without my pc.

  9. ok, i think i've finally got it all done. A huge thanks to all that made it possible to root and instal cwm on the pantech burst. Great work all. thank you

  10. 1 last thing that has me totally stumped. Why when making a cwm recovery backup is the date on the backup saying it was from 1970-10-03.13.16.01?? Everytime i create a backup it does this. is there a fix for it or a way to change the date in cwm to reflect the time and date of the day the recovery was made??

    2. Okay, i don't have this phone YET, i'm thinking on buying it, is it a good phone?

Anyways, please respond that, this should help:

      For downgrade to GingerBread

Install Pantech PC Suite (If not already installed)
Download and extract this file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/vkdoxq7q7cw8dmj/P9070.zip
      Install P9070_Download_Tool_v3.3.exe
Put your phone into SW Download mode (power off, then hold vol(-) and power simultaneously).
Run the Download Tool, select pdl and flash
On reboot, remember it asks network unlock code.

#OffTopic, deleted the first comment because i pasted the wrong link, my apologies.

    3. Network selection (2G/3G/4G/Automatic) solution in ICS

Install ‘Secret Code Revealer’ from Google Store
      Open and click Search Code
      Goto code 386386>Launch Code>RAT Mode
Select between Automatic, LTE, UMTS or GSM and click OK

    1. it sounds like you might not have the fastboot drivers installed. check your device manager to see if theres anything flagged.
